Causes of irregular menstruation: Irregular menstruation is not so rare - only very few women get their menstrual period at absolutely regular intervals. Usually, the cycle duration varies slightly.

Puberty and menopause: Due to hormonal imbalance during puberty and menopause, irregular cycle in these phases of life is very common.

Chronic tubal and ovarian inflammation (pelvic inflammatory disease): A possible sign of the chronic pelvic inflammatory disease is an irregular cycle coupled with abdominal cramps during the entire process, constipation and bloating may also occur.

The chronic pelvic inflammatory disease occurs when an acute pelvic inflammatory disease is not treated successfully or due to cicatricial changes after inflammation has healed.

Miscarriages: Repeated miscarriages may manifest as irregular, rare uterine bleeding with labour-like pains.
